    • You are MANAGING this station. During Practical Skills Examination, you as the “candidate” are directing CPR, setting up and operating the AED, and later doing the airway and ventilations. 

  • DO Assess your patient for responsiveness

  • DO Determine no breathing and pulselessness

  • DO direct your partner to begin CPR – verbalize to them to push hard, 2” compressions, 100 per minute. That partner is doing 1 PERSON CPR, so while you are setting up the AED, they are doing 30 compressions/2 breaths. TELL them to assure adequate chest rise also.

DO Open airway and begin ventilations after 1 the first shock, it is now 2 person CPR; you are doing airway and ventilations. Give one breath every 5-6 seconds, the ventilation over the course of 1 second, verbalize that you are ensuring a good seal for adequate chest rise. Have your assistant count their 30 compressions out loud.
